Fitment FAQ
Will this part fit my specific model and year?
This flywheel rotor is intended for Yamaha YZF-R1: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008; Yamaha FZ1 (Naked & Fazer): 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015; Yamaha FZ8 (Naked & Fazer): 2011, 2012, 2013. Listed year information includes 2004–2015, 2004–2008, 2004, 2015, 2005. It is best matched to original part number(s) 5VY-81450-00-00, 2SH-81450-00-00, 2004-2015. Key physical/spec details from the product data include 1000cc, 800cc. Use the compatibility table and product photos together before ordering.
Do I need to match the OEM part number?
Yes. Match your original part number to 5VY-81450-00-00, 2SH-81450-00-00, 2004-2015 before purchase. For this flywheel rotor, also compare the OEM number, taper size, keyway position, magnet layout, starter gear style, and charging system compatibility. This is especially important for Yamaha models because similar model names can use different parts by year or trim.
What models or situations does this part not fit?
Do not order this flywheel rotor for machines outside the listed compatibility, or for units with different taper sizes, keyway positions, magnet layouts, starter gear styles, or OEM numbers. If your original part number does not cross-reference with 5VY-81450-00-00, 2SH-81450-00-00, 2004-2015, treat the fitment as unconfirmed. Model years outside 2004–2015, 2004–2008, 2004, 2015, 2005 should be verified separately. Do not rely only on the model name or engine size.
What should I check before ordering?
Before ordering, compare your original part with the photos and check the OEM number, taper size, keyway position, magnet layout, starter gear style, and charging system compatibility. Confirm OEM/cross-reference number(s): 5VY-81450-00-00, 2SH-81450-00-00, 2004-2015. Recheck listed specs such as 1000cc, 800cc. If any connector, mounting point, size, or year detail is different, confirm fitment before installation.
As with most motorcycles, over time the magneto begins to wear out before the stator does. This is just due to losing its magnetivity over time.It was time to replace my magneto. I was searching around and I found this magneto coil that said it fit my make and model of my bike. So naturally I picked it up as soon as I could. I'm going to be storing my bike shortly for the winter because I am from the Midwest and want to get all my repairs done so I could be ready in the spring to just go and ride. The magneto is actually very easy to install. There's only one tool that's a specialty tool to pull the magneto off. But if you're crafty there are ways to remove the magneto without special tools. But you didn't hear that from me.Before the magneto is installed, I would recommend wiping everything down with a diluted solution of rubbing alcohol and distilled water. Make sure you use a lint-free microfiber cloth. This is just to make sure there are no magnetic flakes or debris that could get between the very tight tolerances of the magneto and the stator. I have had this happen previously on my other bike and it is not fun when you're you're 100 mi from home in the middle of nowhere. After installation, I took the bike out for a good ride and everything worked as designed. I am very happy that I found the right magneto. The magneto itself is made very solid and engineered very well. It is heavy and made with premium materials and metals. I would definitely say the value is there for the money.GOOFIT is a manufacturer that you could count on. They have a very knowledgeable staff and they reply to your message fairly quick. Usually within 24 hours.Overall, I am very satisfied with the performance of this magneto and I would not hesitate to buy this again as needed. Hopefully not for a while.I can with confidence recommend this to anybody that has the make and model bike that would fit this magneto. For the size of the magneto, it is very reliable. This magneto is on the smaller side but that's just how the bike was designed. Keep up the good work! You have definitely earned a return customer.
